Introduction to Construction

Welcome to the area dedicated to issues that apply to the Construction Sector.  You will also find general health and safety guidance in the 'A-Z',  this information is relevant to all industry groups regardless of activity.  From here you can also access our 'Ask the Expert Facility'.

Not only will you have employees to take care of but members of the public who frequent your premises making use of your services as well as contractors and visitors.

We have tried to represent issues, regulations and guidance in a way which will be clear and easy to follow.

Together with other sections we hope this will enable you to work more safely in your industry.

The Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974, as amended, provides the framework for all workplaces, however a number of Acts, Regulations, Directives and guidance through Approved Codes of Practice have been introduced to enhance the welfare of those persons affected by the work carried out in the construction industry.

Should you have any specific queries you can always 'Ask the Expert'.
